learning options at arthaus.berlin for international practitioners 2025/26
On this page we offer international practitioners considering applying for one of our programs detailed information about their options to join our programs during the 2025/26 season, whether you require a Short-Stay Schengen Visa, come from a county participating in the Visa Waiver Program for short-term stays, or are a resident of a European Union member state.
Diploma Programs
We offer all our diploma programs in a hybrid format, designed to balance immersive practical learning in our Berlin studios with independent study you can complete from your home country. The residencies in Berlin are carefully structured to accommodate your personal and professional commitments, ensuring a rich experience while adhering to the latest international visa regulations and requirements.
Diploma Program
integral movement and performance practice
Options for practitioners with a permit or visa for a 90-day stay
If you wish to join our diploma program in Integral Movement and Performance Practice and come on a short-stay Schengen Visa or from a country participating in the visa waiver program, you are allowed to stay for up to 90 days in Germany and the Schengen space within a 180-day period.
We offer you these two options to complete the diploma program:
Option 1: Intensive Study
If you prefer completing the required 300 hours of teacher-guided research during a single stay in Berlin of under 90 days, we offer an 11-week intensive that runs from January 16 – April 3, 2026 in our studios in Berlin. You will then complete the program by conducting your independent research project in your home country, allowing for a smooth transition from guided work to individual exploration.
Option 2: Flexible Study Periods
For those seeking a more adaptable approach, this option permits you to complete the 300 hours of teacher-guided research over multiple study periods within the same year or across several years. This flexibility enables you to design your learning journey in a manner that best fits your existing professional and personal commitments.
Depending on how many study periods you plan, you will have to re-apply for a short-stay Schengen Visa or simply return to Germany under the regulations of the visa waiver program. Students who extend their diploma program over a longer duration should be aware that our curriculum—including various workshops, masterclasses, and intensives—may vary in terms of content and scheduling each season.
To begin the diploma program during the 2025/26 season, you can participate in any of the workshops, intensives and masterclasses of our workshop program running from October 27, 2025 to April 3, 2026, provided that your stay does not exceed 90 days. To complete the remaining required hours of teacher-guided research, you can return at a time of your convenience to one or multiple of our workshops, summer residencies or retreats.
Options for Practitioners from European Union (EU) Member States
Option 1: Intensive Study
If you come from a member state of the European Union(EU) , wishing to complete the 300 hours of teacher-guided research over the length of one single stay during the 2025/26 season, you can select the workshops, intensives and masterclasses of your choice from our workshop program running from October 27, 2025, to April 3, 2026.
Option 2: Flexible Study Periods
Alternatively, if you prefer a more customized path to complete the diploma program, this option allows you to create your own curriculum over several study periods, starting during the workshop program 2025/26 that begins on October 27, 2025. Students pursuing this option should be aware that the curriculum might change in dates and content each season.

all other diploma programs
In addition to the Integral Movement and Performance Practice, all other diploma programs are structured in a modular format with two annual residencies in Berlin. Each residency lasts three weeks and is intentionally scheduled to accommodate international students' ability to stay in Germany for a maximum of 90 days within a 180-day period. Participants arriving on a Short-Stay Schengen Visa will need to reapply for a visa for each residency they attend.
workshops
If you are interested in attending one or more workshops and require a Short-Stay Schengen Visa, please ensure your cumulative stay in Germany and the Schengen area does not exceed 90 days. This is particularly crucial if you plan to travel between workshops. The Short-Stay Schengen Visa permits multiple entries, so you can leave and return to Germany for different workshops, as long as these travels occur within the 90-day validity of your visa.
